I highly recommend Samantha Brown’s new TV show “Passport to China” and “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” China episode.  They’re packed with tons of great new footage and information on the diverse and fascinating Chinese culture.

Besides, the premature deaths of smokers has economic benefits, according to a controversial report commissioned by a leading US cigarette manaufacturer.  The report, drawn up for tobacco giant Philip Morris Inc, found that the Czech Republic saved about $147m in 1997 through the deaths of smokers who would not live to use healthcare or housing for the elderly.

So go on.  Light one up.  You know you want to.

Let’s go to Candy Mountain!

The legendary Library of Alexandria, one of ancient Egypt’s great treasures, is reincarnated for the 21st century.

Did anyone really doubt it?  It’s not like twins are that common,
yet suddenly they’re all the rage with stars in or near the riskier
years for conceiving.  Don’t get me wrong.  I’m not knocking it…
just knocking the fact that this was considered entertainment
news worth reporting.

4:30 PM UPDATE:  She had one molar extracted and is now doing well at home. YAY!

My doggie is going into the vet today to get her teeth cleaned for the first time.  This is done under general anesthetic which means I couldn’t give her water or food this morning.  She just stands there and looks at me with sad eyes as if to say, “Mommy, did you forget about me?”  I feel so bad for her
