Tonight’s Whacked-Out Poll

If you had to choose between dying in a mid-flight plane crash or having your plane abducted by aliens mid-flight, which would you choose?  (Mind you, the aliens part is unknown.  Could be good…could be painful, slow & horrific.)

Do You Know?

10 points to the first person who can tell me the origin and meaning of Mr. Mojo Risin’ without googling it.

How?

I can order a Chinese food take out entree that comes with soup and fried rice for $4.95 ($5.40 with tax) and have it delivered for free.  A guy on a bike brings it.  How do they make money on that?!

Not Cool…

When it’s 48F and rainy and your boss has you stand outside watching his boxes of stuff while he goes and gets the car from a garage down the block.  Comes back 25 minutes later eating a sandwich that he stopped to get on the way.  Meanwhile you’ve been standing in the cold/rain waiting….  I believe that qualifies said boss as a jackass.  Don’t you think?

What Would You Do?

Posted by: Weesa  :  Category: Polls

Three simple questions…

  1. If you knew you could not fail and those around you would not only suspend judgment, but wholeheartedly support you…what would you do?
  2. Are you doing it?
  3. If not…why?

Oh, one final question…

  1. If your reason for not doing something is that you’re afraid of failing or being judged…how much worse would that be than never having tried?

Ponder it.

And share your thoughts below…

What do you think?

So the hubby and I had a debate this afternoon that I’d like your opinion on.

Fact (From Wikipedia):  Christopher Columbus was an Italian navigator, colonizer & explorer whose voyages across the Atlantic Ocean lead to general European awareness of the American continents in the Western Hemisphere.  He personally initiated the process of Spanish colonization which foreshadowed general European colonization of the New World.

The hubby claims that Italians have the right to celebrate Columbus’ achievements as theirs because he was from Genoa.  I argued that the Italians shouldn’t have that right because when Columbus presented his western-route-to-the-Indies idea to courts all around Europe, only Spain agreed to support him.  Columbus, while Italian in origin, sailed under the Spanish flag, with Spanish ships, and mostly Spanish funds.  His colonizations were also made in the name of Spain.  Therefore, IMHO, only the Spanish should claim his achievements.  That he was Genoese is inconsequential because the region that eventually became the country of Italy, did not back him.  To me it’s a bit like waiting for the game to be over and then announcing your support for the winning team.  Where was that support before the game started?

Drinking Rules

Posted by: Weesa  :  Category: Polls

Some people have specific rules about when drinking alcohol should/shouldn’t be done.  Example: No alcohol before noon or before 5:00 PM, and not even because of things like work or other responsibilities.

So, for those people, if you were visiting a place where the sun doesn’t shine (or where it shines all the time), would time still be a factor in your decision to consume?  Why or why not?

Would you rather get a root canal or read boring finance books for your master’s program?
